Phentermine is one of the best medications available to curb your appetite and is FDA approved for weight loss. Although it is approved for individuals with a Body Mass Index (BMI) greater than 30%, I will offer it to you if your BMI is less and/or you have other risk factors, so you have less weight to lose and to prevent or help your diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure or other weight-related illnesses. Phentermine can be used alone or combined with other weight loss medications for increased weight loss or plateaus. You will be able to eat regular foods but phentermine will help you eat less and choose healthier foods. The average weight loss is 5-8 pounds a month.
Phentermine is not an amphetamine but it is a controlled medication. It is not addicting as they initially thought but you may have more hunger and less energy if you miss a dose. It has been shown to work on the brain receptors, not the heart receptors like fenfluramine, the medication that caused heart-valve problems that is no longer available.
Some common side effects of phentermine include a dry mouth, constipation, headache and sometimes sleep issues initially.
Phentermine is an adjunct for weight loss, and you will have life-long success if you incorporate healthy changes such as healthy eating, exercise and stress reduction. You will receive education and support at each visit to help you change your lifestyle permanently. Also, you will get a body composition analysis at each visit to ensure you are losing fat and keeping/gaining muscle.
You do receive a free Vitamin B12 injection with each visit, which may help with metabolism, energy and weight loss.
The initial weight loss visit costs $250, which includes two weeks of phentermine, a book on ways to avoid diet traps, and a box of meal replacements. This is for clients who have never been seen in this clinic for weight loss or have not been seen in the clinic in the past year. The first follow-up visit will be two weeks after the initial visit and then further follow-up visits will be monthly. The cost for each follow-up visit is $100. You will receive a prescription for phentermine at this time, and your insurance may cover the cost. You cannot receive phentermine without a medical evaluation to ensure you are receiving the most effective medication and dose, safely.
Blood tests will be needed for your safety, to use certain medications, and to help decide which medications will work best for you. If you have had blood tests such as thyroid, glucose, cholesterol, blood count, chemistry (liver, kidney and electrolytes) in the last year, please bring a copy with you to your first appointment. If you do not bring them to your second appointment, you will be required to pay $50 for me to order and interpret the required blood tests.
Prescription Human Chorionic Gonadatropin (HCG) is available for individuals who are18 and older, who would like to use this method for weight loss, who want to restart their metabolism, or who have not responded well to other prescription medications. HCG is a hormone that is created by the placenta that can help rid the body of fat with the combination of a special diet. HCG is not approved by the FDA for weight loss, but it has been available for over 60 years with low side effect risks. The average weight loss is 1/2 to 1 pound daily, and most of the weight loss is fat, not muscle. It can work well for individuals who have a little or a lot of weight to lose. When you feel you have lost the weight you want, you will need to take a 6-week break from the medication. The HCG injections are mixed with prescription Vitamin B12, which may help with metabolism, energy and weight loss. With HCG, you will eat a 750-950 calorie diet consisting of lean proteins, certain fruits and vegetables and limited breads, depending on your activity level. There is a maintenance program that you follow after each HCG session to ensure you keep the weight off. You can take phentermine along with HCG to help you follow the diet better.
If you're taking medications for diabetes and/or blood pressure, these medications may need to be adjusted as you lose weight.
Some common side effects of HCG include constipation, nausea, headache, irregular menses and an increased chance of getting pregnant.
The initial medical evaluation costs $250, which includes an HCG Recipe Book and a box of meal replacements. This is for clients who have never been seen in this clinic for weight loss or have not been seen in the clinic in the past year.
There are two options for the HCG program; injections you can receive in the clinic or injections you can do at home yourself. You can receive a 14-day dose injection in the clinic of HCG and prescription Vitamin B12 that stays in your body for 10-14 days. The cost every two weeks is $75 and includes the evaluation, body composition analysis, instructions, support, injection fee, maintenance program review and a permanent healthy eating plan. You can receive a total of four HCG/B12 injections in one session. If you would like to do the injections at home, the cost is $150 for the 20-dose session or $300 for the 40-dose session. These sessions include the evaluation, initial/mid/end body composition analysis, instructions, support, supplies, maintenance program review and a permanent healthy eating plan.
If you have had blood tests such as thyroid, glucose, cholesterol, blood count, chemistry (liver, kidney and electrolytes) in the last year, please bring a copy with you to your first appointment. If you choose to do a second session and do not bring them in, you will be required to pay $50 for me to order and interpret the required blood tests.
